Student Parent Counseling Specialist
Ms. Strong is an Elementary School Counselor, 504 Coordinator, Backpack Buddies, Mckinney Vento Coordinator, and a member of the ASCA (American School Counselor Association). She encourages the use of the term School Counselor instead of Guidance Counselor due to how the roles and duties of the profession have evolved beyond guidance. This is not a complete list, but the roles and duties can include program planning, program implementation, data collection, team collaboration in the school improvement process, direct, and indirect counseling services. Ms. Strong also provides individual, group counseling services, and is trained in suicide prevention and risk assessment.
Ms. Strong graduated in 2009 from UNC Pembroke with her B.A. in Psychology. She also received her M.A. of Arts in School Counseling from NC Central in 2018. She is a proud charter member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated. Ms. Strong and her line sisters chartered the first chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated in the Spring of 2008 known as Rho Nu. In addition, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, travel, exercise, and being a health & wellness coach.
