WOW’s Youth Voices Advisory Board (YVAB)
Our Purpose WOW’s Youth Voices Advisory Board (YVAB) was created to give children an opportunity to create and discuss workshop topics that benefit them. Our Youth Voices Advisory Board provides an opportunity for children and young people to contribute to the work of Workshops on Wheels. In order to impact youth and their community, we must bring them to the table. YVAB can be in 7th to 12th grade.
Service TimeMembers of the Youth Voices Advisory Board serve on the board for one year. This year’s term begins in May 2024 to May 2025.
2024 – 2025 Monthly Meeting DatesThe Youth Voices Advisory Board members meet every 2nd Saturday at 12:30pm – 1:30pm (EST.). Members meet virtually on the Zoom platform.
Meeting Topics The WOW Youth Voices Advisory Board will be offered four personal development and college preparation workshops per term. The topics we will discuss this year include the following: Public Speaking Tips, College Application Assistance, Resume Writing for Jobs, Interview Skills, and Character Building WOW Youth Voices Advisory Board Activities Decide on WOW incentives for youth Create their own logo design Select a workshop topic for teenagers in their community Each YVAB member can attend all WOW teen events for free. Come up with a virtual youth event for the public.
End of the Year Celebration At the end of the WOW Youth Voices Advisory Board term, all members are invited to an end of the year celebration. During this time, we recognize their accomplishments while enjoying an in person or virtual celebration with food. Members will have an opportunity to present their work in front of family and friends.
